How to get a Charge of Light in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Learn where you can buy or get a Charge of Light for the Blind Well event in Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Once you’ve wrapped up the campaign for Forsaken, you’re far from finished with what Destiny 2’s latest expansion has to offer. You’ll now have access to the Dreaming City, and it’s here that you’ll find new and exciting challenges to tackle. One of the most popular of these is the Blind Well event. However, to take part in this you’ll first need to own a Charge of Light, effectively a key that grants access to different tiers of event difficulty. In this article we’ll teach you how and where to get a Charge of Light in Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Thankfully, grabbing a Charge of Light is a simple affair, without the need to grind for a loot drop. Once you’ve got access to the Dreaming City you’ll be able to buy a Charge of Light directly from Petra Venj. There are three tiers available, costing progressively more Dark Fragments as shown below.

Charge of Light

Price

Tier 1

5 Dark Fragments

Tier 2

13 Dark Fragments

Tier 3

20 Dark Fragments

Each tier will activate the corresponding tier of difficulty for the Blind Well event. Beating the Blind Well is no easy feat, so if you’re new to it, make sure you’ve saved up enough Dark Fragments to afford more Charges of Light in case you fail.

There are a few alternative methods to obtain a Charge of Light. The first is a touch cheeky, but a good way to get used to the Blind Well event too. As a public event, it’s possible to join in when another player is taking on the Blind Well. Completing the event will not only net you some experience with it, but often drops a Charge of Light as a reward too, meaning you can then activate the event for yourself.

You’ll also have the chance to earn a Charge of Light from Lost Sector chests in the Dreaming City, which is a great way to earn them if you’d rather save your Dark Fragments for other purposes while you explore.

Finally, you can also exchange 25 Baryon Boughs for a Charge of Light with the Muninn Skull in the temple under Rheasilvia. Petra Venj is a far more more convenient option as this is a tricky place to reach, tucked as it is below the northern cavern city. Still, it’s worth being aware of the option at least.

Once you’ve got the Charge of Light you’re after, we recommend joining up with a strong fireteam before tackling the Blind Well as it’s quite the event. Beating the Tier 2 Blind Well event is the best way to earn a Seed of Light and unlock a second subclass, meaning it’s well worth practicing.
