How to use the camera in Red Dead Redemption 2

Take some stunning photos with Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2

There’s no denying that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a beautiful game. Rockstar has painstakingly fleshed out their world with as much detail and colourful characters as possible, so it would be a shame if you couldn’t document it. Thankfully, Arthur Morgan has access to an in-game camera that allows him to take some rather dashing Wild West selfies.

How to use the camera?

Arthur Morgan’s camera can be accessed by holding L1 on the PS4, or LB on the Xbox One. This will open up the weapon wheel. Once the weapon wheel is onscreen, simply press R1 on the PS4, or RB on the Xbox One to switch between your weapons and items in your inventory. After scrolling through your inventory, you should see the camera listed as one of the options. Select it, then release L1/LB, and the camera will equip in Arthur’s hands.

There are three options when the camera is equipped:

  • Handheld
  • Self-portrait
  • Put Away

Handheld mode includes the following options:

  • Take Photo
  • Enable Focus Lock
  • Zoom
  • View Photos
  • Back

Self-portrait also contains some unique options:

  • Take Photo
  • Enable Focus Lock
  • Zoom
  • Expression
  • Pose
  • View Photos
  • Back

While there aren’t any silly emotes, Arthur Morgan can change the expression and the pose he’s in when taking his all-important selfie. Of course, this likely won’t deter players from creating some hilarious photos. Now that you know how to use the camera in Red Dead Redemption 2, why not learn how to do a spot of fishing or maybe some bare-knuckle fighting?
