How to find your hat in Red Dead Redemption 2

Find your missing hat by following these three steps.

There’s something strange and rather unsettling when a cowboy doesn’t don his iconic hat. In fact, we feel naked when Arthur Morgan’s cowboy hat decides to go walkabout. Maybe you lost it during that drunken saloon fistfight, or was it during one of your hasty heists? There are a lot of places your hat can ultimately end up and retracing your footsteps can be rather tricky, especially for those who are constantly on the move. Losing your favourite hat can be utterly heartbreaking in Red Dead Redemption 2, but you needn’t shed a tear again if you follow these three simple steps.

Retrace your steps

We only recommend this step if you really want to feel the true horror and pain of trying to locate your missing hat. You’ll go through all the crushing lows and exhilarating highs as you retrace your every step to locate the hat you hold most dear. This is immersion on a whole new level.

Locate a wardrobe

For those of you that don’t want to spend minutes, hours, or even days looking for your hat, then be sure to visit a wardrobe. You can often find one by your bed at whichever camp you’re staying at, or you can always pay a visit to a hotel and use the wardrobe there. Simply rifle through all your clothes until you find your missing hat. Red Dead Redemption 2’s wardrobes are truly magical.

Use your horse

Your horse can do many things in Red Dead Redemption 2. It can carry useful items, weaponry, and most importantly a whole wardrobe of hats. Open up the Weapon Wheel with L1/LB, then navigate to Horse using the R1/RB button. You’ll see a wheel with some items, one of which is your hat. Huzzah! Of course, if you happen to own more than one hat, you can cycle through them and choose your favourite. The only downside with this step is you have to be fairly close to your horse, but it’s still a great way to quickly locate it.
