Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blood of the Dead zombie map contains many mysteries. In order to find them, you’re going to need to craft the Spectral Shield, which is a vital part of the central Easter eggs questline. Doing so requires you to find several components to craft together, but these have a habit of jumping around the map. We’ve nailed down all the possible locations for you.
How to craft the Spectral Shield
The first piece of the puzzle is the shield itself. This is a fairly standard riot shield, but it’s a key component when crafting the Spectral Shield. It can be found in one of three different areas of the map, so make sure to check them all.
The first possible location is in the Citadel Tunnels. There’s an elevator right at the top of the stairs. Have a look near the elevator and you could be lucky enough to find the shield first try.
The next location is also in the Citadel Tunnels. Midway down the stairs are some makeshift walls blocking off sections of the stairs. You might find the shield leaning up against one of these walls.
Lastly, you’ll want to take a look is right at the bottom of the stairs leading to Building 64. Near where the second power activation switch is, there’s a window that acts as a spawn point for zombies. You’ll find the shield right next to it.
Finding the Afterlife Essence
So far all you have is a shield, so what makes it Spectral, exactly? Afterlife Essence, obviously. Once again, this can spawn in several places throughout the map. Ready for another scavenger hunt? Luckily, they’re all quite near each other.
Head over to Michigan Avenue, where the Warden’s Office is. Right opposite an electrical box that triggers the Warden’s Office trap you’ll find a box which should hopefully be glowing, clearly infused with Afterlife Essence. If it’s glowing, grab it.
The next possible location is in the Library, just inside the prison section. There should be another electrical box, hopefully glowing with spectral light. You know what to do.
If all else fails, you’ll find the Afterlife Essence in Times Square. This area can be reached from a catwalk on Michigan Avenue. Move along the catwalk to reach Times Square and there’ll be an electrical box below you filled with spectral energy.
The Warden is key
Now you have the two components for your Spectral Shield, but there’s one more item to find before you can craft it. Thankfully, this one is always in the same place: the Warden’s pockets. Kill him and loot his corpse for the Warden’s Key. It’s okay, your need is greater than his.
With all of these items obtained, you’re finally ready to craft that Spectral Shield. Head up to any workbench to do so. And you’re done!
