Where to find and hunt the Legendary Coyote in Red Dead Redemption 2

Secure this pesky pooch's pelt with our guide to the Legendary Coyote location in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Unlike the real world where rare animal species deserve to be protected and preserved, Red Dead Redemption 2’s Legendary creatures are all prime targets to be hunted as you explore the game. Each one will earn you a Legendary Pelt that’s required for certain crafting recipes, but finding them is no easy feat. Thankfully we’ve already learned where these elusive beasts are hiding to save your Arthur Morgan a world of travelling and trouble. In this article we’ll teach you where to find and hunt the Legendary Coyote in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s Coyotes look and sound an awful lot like good and friendly doggos, which makes killing them an excruciating task for many of us, even if they do get a bit bitey. Unfortunately you’ll need to do so if you want to craft some of the rarer special outfits and talismans Red Dead 2 has to offer. If you've got the stomach for it, your hunt for the The Legendary Coyote is going to take you to Scarlett Meadows, Lemoyne.

It’s a big region, but your best bet for starting the hunt is in the Old Mill you’ll find on the map a short distance southwest under the letter L from Lemoyne. If you’re not sure on the location, travel northwest from Rhodes along the edge of Flat Iron Lake or southeast from Valentine. The Mill is close to the northeast corner of the lake.

From the mill, move southeast and with Eagle Eye active you’ll shortly find the first clue for the creature in the form of a pile of dung sitting in a copse. Inspect it and follow the trail on to find fur and a dead sheep. The Legendary Coyote should be somewhere nearby once you’ve reached this point (close to the watering hole), so keep your ears and eyes open so you’re ready to take it down.

With the pelt in your possession you should head to the nearest Trapper (check our guide if you’re unsure where to go) to craft yourself a fine reward. Now that you know where to find and hunt the Legendary Coyote, visit our all animal locations hub to track down more creatures.
