If you’ve not heard of a tier list before, it essentially ranks fighters based on their potential for success against the rest of the cast, as well as their recent tournament results. Having just released, there aren’t any results for Ultimate yet, so these lists are based purely on the potential players believe these characters will have after limited experience with them.

As always, it’s worth saying that you should take this tier list with a hefty chunk of salt. Fighting game metas develop over a long period of time, meaning characters can rise and fall as new tricks and tactics are discovered. We’re right at the start of Ultimate’s life, which means you can expect this order to fluctuate greatly. With that in mind, some characters certainly show more potential than others so let’s get stuck in with our tier list for Smash Bros. Ultimate!
