Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tier List
Update 02/08/19 - We've updated our tier list following Genesis 6.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the new kid on the black in Smash, which means it’ll be some time before we can really establish who’s top of the pack when it comes to characters tiers. That hasn’t stopped many pro players from making early assessments on the state of the game and where they rate each character's success so far or potential for the future.
Ultimate was a huge launch for the Switch and competitive Smash, and that means plenty of tournaments were organized in the first month alone. Since release we've had a few big events like Don't Park on the Grass, Valhalla II and Glitch 6, and now the massive Genesis 6 super major to provide some results to work with, but there's still a long way to go before we see definitive leaders.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tier List

If you’ve not heard of a tier list before, it essentially ranks fighters based on their potential for success against the rest of the cast, as well as their recent tournament results. There have only been a few big events so far, which means this list is largely based of the potential seen in most characters. We've based this tier list off those made by pro players like ZeRo and Leffen, as well as current tournament results.
As always, it’s worth saying that you should take this tier list with a hefty chunk of salt. Fighting game metas develop over a long period of time, meaning characters can rise and fall as new tricks and tactics are discovered. We’re still early on in the start of Ultimate’s life, which means you can expect this order to fluctuate greatly over the course of the year. With that in mind, some characters have already seen tournament success, and others certainly show more potential than others so let’s get stuck in with our tier list for Smash Bros. Ultimate!
