Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass

To access online features, you’ll want to purchase a subscription to Xbox Live Gold. If you want to give it a try first, there are subscriptions as short as a month. Alternatively, you can avoid thinking about renewing each month by purchasing a yearly subscription. For access to new games, you can also grab a subscription to Xbox Game Pass for as low as $1.

Finally, not sure what to get your gift recipient? Why not at a gift card to the Microsoft Store? That way, they can purchase whatever game they need with their new Xbox One!

Xbox Wireless Controller

One of the easiest accessories to buy for your Xbox One S or Xbox One X is a new Xbox Wireless controller.

The Xbox One S and Xbox One X include a single Xbox Wireless Controller. While this is fine if you plan on playing alone, we still recommend purchasing an additional controller. Why? Well, if you want to have friends over to play multiplayer games and they don’t own an Xbox One, you’ll need a second controller.

Alternatively, if you plan on doing a gaming marathon where you play Red Dead Redemption 2 all night, you’ll eventually need to recharge your Xbox Wireless Controller. By owning a second Xbox Wireless Controller, you can swap out controllers and keep playing without interruption. Finally, the Xbox Wireless Controller that comes bundled with the Xbox One S or Xbox One X is a stock color.

If you want a special, unique controller color, you’ll need to purchase one separately. Need a controller better suited to your needs? Xbox recently released their Xbox Adaptive Controller! Below, we’ve listed a few different Xbox Wireless Controller options in each color!

Alongside the purchase of an additional Xbox One Wireless controller comes the need to charge your controllers quickly, as the Xbox One only includes USB charging cables. To make the charging process easier, we recommend buying a charging station for Xbox One. There are a few different options available when it comes to charging your Xbox One Wireless controllers.

Using these options, you can dock your controllers and set them all to charge simultaneously, rather than needing to plug in each one. Wondering what charging stations are available? Below, we’ve included a few different charging station options for Xbox One!

External Drive for Xbox One

When purchasing an Xbox One S or Xbox One X, there are two stock storage options available: 500GB and 1TB. Depending on the game, your storage can fill up rather quickly.

For example, games like Red Dead Redemption 2 can take up to 90GB of storage space alone. To avoid having to uninstall games you haven’t finished to make way for new ones, and to avoid running out of storage space in general, we recommend buying an external drive for Xbox One.

There a variety of options available, many offering 1TB or more of additional storage space. Wondering what external drive options to consider? Below, we’ve included a list of recommended external drives for Xbox One S and Xbox One X!

To immerse yourself in your Xbox One games, you may want to add a quality gaming headset to your console purchase. What’s nice about the Xbox One is that, on the controllers themselves, you’ll find a headphone jack. If you want to communicate with friends, there are also plenty of headphone options available for Xbox One that include built-in mics.

With so many different headphone options to choose from, it can be hard to settle on the one that’s best for you or your gift recipient. To help, we’ve included a few recommended headphones to pair with your Xbox One S or Xbox One X!

4K TV

Finally, if you purchased or are receiving an Xbox One X, you may want to upgrade to a 4K compatible TV. During the holidays, retailers generally offer discounts on 4K TVs as an incentive to shop at their location. While Black Friday has come and gone, you can still pick up a 4K TV at a relatively decent price before the holidays conclude.

With so many different brands, styles, and sizes, it can be hard to find the best 4K TV to suit your needs. To help make your holiday shopping a little bit easier, we’ve included a list of recommended 4K TVs to pair with your Xbox One X!

As stated above, one of the easiest things to add to your Xbox One purchase is a game or two. On the cheaper end, an extra controller or headset can really add to your Xbox One S or Xbox One X gift. On the pricier side, upgrading your TV to work with your Xbox One X or purchasing external storage for your console can help add to your gaming experience for years to come!

By reading through this feature, you should now know the best accessories to purchase for an Xbox One S or Xbox One X gift during the holidays!
