How to get a Reaper Synth in Destiny 2

With the launch of Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter comes common questions like what a Reaper Synth is and how to get one. Alternatively, if you’ve already acquired a Reaper Synth, you may be confused as to what exactly you’re supposed to do with it. To help simplify everything, we’ve put together a quick guide explaining what a Reaper Synth is, how to get one, and what to do with it once you have it in Destiny 2!

How to Get a Reaper Synth in Destiny 2

To start, Destiny 2 players will likely want to know what a Reaper Synth is. In Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter, a Reaper Synth is one of four different synth items that players can earn, with each synth type serving its own unique purpose in regards to unlocking new pieces to the Gambit Prime armor set.

To get a Reaper Synth, you’ll want to actively participate in game modes including Gambit Prime and The Reckoning. To explain this concept further, a Reaper Synth has the chance to drop randomly after you complete a match in The Reckoning. You can also earn a Reaper Synth as a reward for completing special Gambit Prime bounties.

As for what you do with a Reaper Synth once you have one in your inventory, you’ll want to activate it using a Weak Synthesizer. By activating your Reaper Synth via a Weak Synthesizer, you’ll be able to craft a mote which can then be used to activate The Reckoning game mode.

This is important, as Synths including the Reaper Synth can be used to unlock pieces of the Gambit Prime armor set in The Reckoning. The more Reaper Synths you acquire, the more likely you are to earn desirable pieces of gear in Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter. To quickly recap, there are fourth Synth types in Destiny 2, including the Reaper Synth.

To get a Reaper Synth, you’ll need to either participate in matches in The Reckoning, or complete Gambit Prime bounties. To use your Reaper Synth, you’ll need to activate it with a Weak Synthesizer. This creates a mote, which can then be activated in order to access The Reckoning. By completing matches in The Reckoning after activating the mote from your Reaper Synth, you’ll have a chance to earn pieces of armor from the Gambit Prime set.
