In Devil May Cry 5 – like previous installments in the Devil May Cry series – players are assigned Style Ranks in battle which range from D all the way to SSS. The higher your Style Rank, the more rewards you’ll earn including Red Orbs which can be used for everything from unlocking new Skills to purchasing Devil Breakers from Nico’s Shop.

For more ways to earn Red Orbs fast in Devil May Cry 5, check out our previous guide.

Meanwhile, Style Points also play into your overall Mission Score. The more Style Points you earn, the higher your Rank will be at the end of each Mission and the more bonus Red Orbs you’ll receive. Below, we’ve listed all Style Ranks available in Devil May Cry 5 from lowest to highest.

  • D (Dismal)
  • C (Crazy)
  • B (Badass)
  • A (Apocalyptic)
  • S (Savage)
  • SS (Sick Skills)
  • SSS (Smokin’ Sexy Style)

To earn a higher Style Rank, you’ll need to employ a certain level of strategy during each enemy encounter. For example, cycling through different attacks and chaining together combos will result in a higher Style Rank than mashing the same button over and over. Additionally, your attacks need to actually connect with enemies in order to count towards your Style Rank.

Alternating between attacks and chaining together combos will help you increase your Style Rank in Devil May Cry 5.

Inaction will lower your Style Rank, meaning if you’re running around trying to find the final enemy to vanquish, you’ll notice your Style Rank start to dip. Taking damage from an enemy will also reduce your Style Rank, though you have the opportunity to bump it back up before the fight ends.

Other things to keep in mind include the fact that harder, close-range attacks award more Style Points in contrast to easier, long-range attacks. Using Nero’s Blue Rose to shoot enemies from afar won’t do much for your overall Style Rank, while mixing up attacks with Nero’s Red Queen and Devil Breakers work to quickly bump up your Style Rank.

You can also use Exceed to rev up Red Queen in order to deal more damage. The same can be said for other playable characters, including V and Dante. While playing as V, we noticed that our Style Rank sharply rose whenever we utilized Nightmare in battle, rather than relying solely on Griffon and Shadow.

For Dante, switching through fighting stances using the D-Pad on your controller will help diversify your attacks and boost your overall Style Rank. By keeping these things in mind, and experimenting to find your preferred playstyle is key when it comes to earning high Style Ranks, including SSS, in Devil May Cry 5.
