First, to answer the question of whether you can skip cutscenes in Days Gone, the good news is that you can. To skip a cutscene in Days Gone, all you need to do is hold down the Touchpad on your PlayStation 4 controller while in a cutscene. As you’re holding down the Touchpad, a warning will pop up on the left confirming that you’re about to skip past a cutscene.

If this is your intent (and it probably is considering you’re holding down the Touchpad) keep holding the Touchpad and you’ll proceed to skip the cutscene. If another cutscene pops up shortly after you’ve skipped a cutscene, you can repeat the process of holding down the Touchpad to once again skip through a cutscene.

Note that all cutscenes and things you may want to skip (such as NPC conversations) can be skipped this way in Days Gone. Something to keep in mind is that skipping cutscenes comes with the caveat that you may miss key parts of the story by doing so. Additionally, you can’t rewatch cutscenes in Days Gone. If this isn’t something that bothers you, skipping cutscenes can significantly speed up the amount of time it’ll take you to beat Days Gone.
