How to heal in Days Gone

Replenish your health by finding and using healing items like Medkits and Bandages in Days Gone.

In Days Gone, you’ll frequently stumble upon Freakers who are capable of dealing massive amounts of damage if you’re not careful. To mitigate some of this damage, players have the ability to heal and replenish their health. Along with learning how to save, learning how to heal is one of the first things you should do in Days Gone. To help simplify the process, we’ve put together a quick guide explaining how to heal in Days Gone.

There are a variety of ways to heal in Days Gone from Bandages to Medkits. The difference between items like Medkits and Bandages stems from how you acquire them, with Bandages being crafted and Medkits being scavenged. Because Bandages have to be crafted, using Medkits is arguably the easiest way to heal in Days Gone.

To use a Medkit to heal in Days Gone, you’ll first need to find them by exploring locations such as camps or purchasing them from vendors in exchange for Credits. Once you have Medkits at your disposal, tap and hold the left d-pad direction on your PlayStation 4 controller to begin using your Medkit. Alternatively, if you’re in a bind and need to heal, you can also craft Bandages.

To craft Bandages, you’ll need to press and hold L1 to open your wheel in Days Gone. Next, hover over the healing items using your right direction stick, and finally tap and hold R1 to begin crafting Bandages. With your Bandages crafted, hold R2 to use them to heal. Because Bandages take time to craft, we recommend replenishing your supply before working through tasks like clearing Infestation Zones. We also don’t recommend using Medkits or Bandages if you’re being attacked by Freakers as healing also takes action time.
