Borderlands 3’s voice actors are now known, thanks to Gearbox giving us a look at plenty of new gameplay from the upcoming threequel. We’ve managed to tune our ears to the fine timbre of each voice actor in the Borderlands 3 gameplay footage and can tell you that there are plenty of returning cast! However the Borderlands 3 voice cast list also has some notable alterations and sorely missing names from Borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel. Chief among them are Claptrap and Rhys, which resulted in some awkward tweet interactions with Gearbox chief Randy Pitchford.
Controversies aside, read on to find out which Borderlands 3 voice actors are playing your faves as we go down the BL3 voice cast.
Borderlands 3 Voice Actors and Cast (Confirmed)
Rhys – Ray Chase
Confirmed on Twitter by Ray himself, Ray Chase will voice Rhys in Borderlands 3. He'll be taking over the role from the previous voice actor Troy Baker, and you may recognise him from the cast of Final Fantasy XV as Noctis. There was some controversy over Ray replacing Troy Baker, as Randy Pitchford insisted Baker had turned down the part while he insisted he had never been approached.
Claptrap – Jim Foronda
Jim Foronda will voice Claptrap in Borderlands 3. He'll be taking over the role from the previous games' voice actor David Eddings, but you may recognise him as General Dahl, or the voice of the Dahl vending machines in previous Borderlands games.
Tiny Tina – Ashly Burch
Confirmed on Twitter by Randy Pitchford himself. Ashly Burch will be returning to voice Tiny Tina in Borderlands 3. She'll be reprising her role from the previous games, and you may recognise her from the cast of Critical Role, as Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn, or the webseries Hey Ash, Whatcha Playing?
Tyreen Calypso – Elisa Melendez
Confirmed on Twitter by Elisa herself. Elisa Melendez will be making her debut as Tyreen Calypso in Borderlands 3. The sadistic streamer is her first role in the series, and in any video game, but you may recognise her from Who is Arthur Chu, a 2012 documentary.
Troy Calypso – Max Mittelman
Confirmed on Twitter by Max himself. Max Mittelman will voice Troy Calypso in Borderlands 3, Tyreen's twin brother. He'll be annoying us as one of the main antagonists as part of the streamer duo The Calypso Twins, but you might know him from the cast of Persona 5 as Ryuuji Sakamoto, Ritsu in Mob Psycho 100 or Saitama in One Punch Man.
Amara – Zehra Fazal
Confirmed on Twitter by Zehra herself. Zehra Fazal will voice Amara in Borderlands 3. The mercenary siren who's part of the new recruits of vault hunters, you may recognise Zehra as the voice of the announcer in Apex Legends, or Kayle in League of Legends. However she has also been in the cast of Titanfall 2, Uncharted 4 and Crackdown 3, a video game veteran VA if ever there was one.
FL4K The Beastmaster – SungWon Cho
Confirmed on Twitter by SungWon himself. SungWon Cho will voice FL4K The Beastmaster in Borderlands 3. The Beastmaster is part of the new recruits of vault hunters, you may recognise SungWon as a funny man from Twitter.com, or Joe Furuya in Anime Crimes Division. However he has also been in the cast of Tuca & Bertie, Gen: Lock and several other webseries.
Balex – Ice-T
Confirmed via a video from PC Gamer. The ship's navigational AI and possibly murderous teddy bear bot Balex is voiced by Ice-T in Borderlands 3. Everyone's favorite Twitter gamer has also been known to act, most notably as Odafin Tutuola in Law & Order: SVU and of course, he had a slammin' music career in the 90s. His 1991 rap album was called O.G: Original Gangster, I mean...c'mon! It's Ice-T! You know Ice-T.
Katagawa Jr. – Christopher Wehkamp
Confirmed on Twitter by Chris himself. Christopher Wehkamp will voice Katagawa Jr. in Borderlands 3. The young CEO of gun manufacturer Maliwan is his debut video game role, but you may know Chris as the DM on Dungeons & Dragons show The Dungeon Booth.
Lorelei – Ciarán "CJ" Strange
Confirmed by Ciarán on Twitter. Ciarán Strange will play Lorelei in Borderlands 3, the sweary English NPC who loves coffee seen in most of the gameplay footage from the reveal event. This is his debut in the series, and he has previously worked on several webshows including The Switch and I Am Tim. You might also recognise him from the background of shows like Supernatural and Almost Human.
Lilith & Patricia Tannis – Colleen Clinkenbeard
Confirmed on Twitter by Colleen herself. Colleen Clinkenbeard will be returning to voice Lilith and Patricia Tannis in Borderlands 3. She'll be reprising the roles from the previous games, and you may recognise her from the cast of Dragon Ball FighterZ as Young Gohan and Young Goku, Yaoyorozu in My Hero Academia, and Luffy in One Piece.
Mordecai – Jason Liebrecht
Confirmed on Twitter by Jason himself. Jason Liebrecht will be returning to voice Mordecai in Borderlands 3. He'll be reprising his role from the previous games, and you may recognise him from the cast of Shadow Warrior as Lo Wang, Abel and the ring announcer in Street Fighter V, and Dabi in My Hero Academia.
Ellie – Jamie Marchi
Confirmed on Twitter by Ellie herself. Jamie Marchi will be returning to voice Ellie in Borderlands 3. She'll be reprising her role from the previous games, and you may recognise her from the cast of Attack on Titan as Anka Rheinberger, or Mt. Lady in My Hero Academia.
Mad Moxxi – Brina Palencia
Confirmed on Twitter by Moxxi herself. Brina Palencia will be returning to voice Mad Moxxi in Borderlands 3. She'll be reprising her role from the previous games, and you may recognise her from the cast of Danganronpa 3 as Ibuki, Mineta in My Hero Academia, or Paige in The Walking Dead: Michonne.
Sir Hammerlock – J Michael Tatum
Confirmed on Twitter by Hammerlock himself. J Michael Tatum will be returning to voice Sir Hammerlock in Borderlands 3. He'll be reprising his role from the previous games, and you may recognise him from the cast of Attack on Titan as Erwin Smith, Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia, or Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate.
Brick – Marcus M. Mauldin
Confirmed on Twitter by Brick himself, we think. Marcus M. Mauldin will be returning to voice Brick in Borderlands 3. He'll be reprising his role from the previous games, and you may recognise him from the cast of Paladins as Mal'Damba, a technician in one episode of Breaking Bad or a bunch of voices including "Drug Dealer" and "Guard" in Deus Ex.
