Detective Pikachu items coming to Pokémon GO

Celebrate the release of Detective Pikachu by grabbing some items recently added to Pokémon GO.

In celebration of Detective Pikachu hitting theaters on May 10, Niantic is hosting a special promotional event in Pokémon GO. The event begins on Tuesday, May 7 at 1 p.m. (PDT) and runs until Friday, May 17 at 1 p.m. (PDT). During that time, players have the opportunity to spot Pokémon featured in the movie more frequently, and purchase new cosmetic items from the Style Shop.

As seen in the image above, the new cosmetic items are extremely adorable and feature Detective Pikachu’s hat along with a promotional t-shirt for your avatar. For players interested in XP bonuses and Pokémon spawns, we’ve included the full list of features happening during the Detective Pikachu event in Pokémon GO.

Features

  • Select Pokémon featured in the movie will appear in raids.
  • Pokémon that appear in the movie will show up more frequently in the world.
  • If you’re lucky, you could be photobombed by a Pikachu in a detective hat – with a chance to catch one of your very own!

Bonus

  • Double XP for catching Pokémon.

Field Research

  • Specially themed Field Research will be available for a limited time during this event.

Avatar Items

  • Themed avatar items will be available in the Style Shop.

Judging by the trailers for Detective Pikachu, some of the Pokémon players can expect to spawn more frequently include Pikachu (with a special version available when using the AR feature), Bulbasaur, Jigglypuff, Psyduck, and Snubbull. Other possibilities include Charizard in special Pokémon GO Raids, though this is speculation on our part.

To make the most out of the Detective Pikachu event, we recommend logging in and playing Pokémon GO between May 7 and May 17.
