How to Feint in Mordhau

Trick your opponents by learning how to Feint in Mordhau.

The combat in Mordhau is deep and (at times) complex, such as when you’re learning how to Feint. You’ll be introduced to the Feint mechanic briefly during the game’s tutorial, though it can be easy to forget how to use it during the heat of battle. Struggling to master the art of the Feint? We’ve got you covered! Below, we’ve put together a quick guide explaining how to Feint in Mordhau.

To Feint in Mordhau, you'll want to press Q after initiating an attack animation. You can also use RMG to throw up a Block, though this isn't the same as using a Feint.

First, to use your Feint in Mordhau, you’ll need to press “Q” during an attack animation. It can take a few tries to master the timing, and because of this, we recommend all new players complete the game's tutorial. Not only will the tutorial award you 2,500 Coins upon completion, it’ll also give you the chance to master Feint timing without having to worry about being killed by real foes.

Another way to “Feint” is to initiate a Block after beginning an attack. For example, using your Left Mouse Button (LMB) for a horizontal swing, but quickly tapping your Right Mouse Button (RMB) to switch over to a Block. While this technically doesn’t count as a true Feint, it can serve the same purpose in disorienting your opponents.

Another question players have is when to Feint. Typically, Feints are used in 1v1 dual scenarios rather than against multiple players. When you have enemies coming at you in several different directions, using a Feint can leave you vulnerable to surprise attacks. Feints also use up Stamina which is a crucial resource during a fight.

If you’re in a challenging 1v1 fight and neither one of you are dealing much damage, you can tap Q after initiating an attack animation to Feint and trick your opponent, thereby altering their timing. You can also initiate an attack animation and use RMB to quickly throw up a Block afterwards, rather than landing your strike and defend yourself against your opponent's next move.
