Where to find the BFG 9000 in Rage 2

To add the BFG 9000 to your weapons inventory, you'll need to know where to find it in Rage 2.

Gamers who purchased the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s edition of Rage 2 were given the unique ability to add the famous DOOM gun, the BFG 9000, to their weapons inventory. Rather than grab the gun from a Supply Crate, players will need to track down the BFG 9000 out in the wild. While the location is technically marked on your map, it can be easy to overlook this marker as you make your way through Rage 2.

Eager to collect your BFG 9000? Read on to learn where you can find the BFG 9000 in Rage 2!

The BFG 9000 is a special weapon available to anyone who purchased the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s edition of Rage 2. Rather than act like a bonus that’s automatically added to your inventory, or conveniently set aside for you in a Supply Crate, the BFG 9000 is a weapon that must be collected in the wasteland.

Before you head out to collect your BFG 9000, you’ll first need to link your Bethesda account in Rage 2. To do this, open your Main Menu and select the Store option. In doing so, you’ll be prompted to either create a new Bethesda account or log into your existing Bethesda account. With your account successfully linked, you can jump into the world of Rage 2 and track down your BFG 9000.

On your in-game map, the location of the BFG 9000 should be marked (though no information is attached to this particular marker) and can be found right outside of Vineland in the Twisting Canyons area. To help guide you to the correct spot, you can open your map and place a Waypoint on the BFG 9000’s map marker. Follow the Waypoint to the designated area.

When you arrive, keep an eye out for a comet that crashes into the side of a hill. Walk up to the hill and explore the fiery remains of the comet. Inside one half of the comet, you’ll find the BFG 9000. After picking up the BFG 9000, it’ll be added to your weapons inventory. Similar to the Rocket Launcher in Rage 2, the BFG 9000 deals a punishing amount of damage on impact.

To offset this, the BFG 9000 is relatively slow to fire and reload. Keep in mind that some players have indicated that the comet animation didn’t display for them, or that the map marker location wasn’t available to track via Waypoint. In these instances, you can try to link your Bethesda account again (in case it didn’t work the first time), find the location on your own, or save your game and reload to see if the marker appears.

Over the next few weeks, there will likely be Rage 2 patches that correct any issues players might experience when collecting their BFG 9000. Until then, keep in mind the BFG 9000 can be found right outside of Vineland and is collected from the remnants of a fallen comet on the side of a hill. The BFG 9000 is only available to gamers who purchased the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s edition of Rage 2.
