In Dauntless, you’ll be able to craft different weapon types including Radiant weapons. Each weapon serves a unique purpose, with some being good for targeting certain Behemoths, and others being required for quest completion. Radiant weapons fall into the latter category, as you’ll first encounter the task of crafting them in the Before the Dawn quest line.

How to Craft Radiant Weapons in Dauntless

As noted above, you’ll first encounter the task of crafting yourself a Radiant weapon during the Before the Daunt quest. When talking about crafting a “Radiant weapon” here, note that this includes more than just a Sword. Of course, the materials needed will differ slightly depending on what you wish to craft. Materials needed to craft a Radiant weapon in Dauntless include the following:
- Sword: 4 Valomyr Hide, 2 Apocalypse Horns, 2 Unstable Tailspikes, 150 Rams
- Chain Blades: 4 Valomyr Hide, 6 Radiant Dewclews, 2 Protean Fangs, 150 Rams
- Hammer: 4 Valomyr Hide, 6 Radiant Dewclaws, 2 Unstable Tailspikes, 150 Rams
- War Pike: 4 Valomyr Hide, 2 Unstable Tailspikes, 2 Protean Fangs, 150 Rams
- Axe: 4 Valomyr Hide, 6 Radiant Dewclaws, 2 Protean Fangs, 150 Rams
When crafting a Radiant weapon for the Before the Dawn quest, you’ll receive instructions informing you that you need to take on a Valomyr and farm it for materials, like Valomyr Hide. This makes sense, as the Valomyr is a “Radiant” type of Behemoth. For more on all elemental types and weaknesses, be sure to check out our previous guide.
In a nutshell, you’ll want to use an Umbral weapon (Radiant’s weakness) to bring down the Valomyr. To find yourself a Valomyr, you’ll need to travel to the Maelstrom region and look for the following Behemoth. Once you’ve found and defeated a Valomyr, you’ll be able to farm it for materials.
