In Mortal Kombat 11, gamers have the ability to get Shang Tsung and add him to their roster, though there’s no “free” way to do this. Instead, the only way to unlock Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11 is by purchasing him. You can either purchase Shang Tsung on his own, or you can buy the Kombat Pack which will not only give you Shang Tsung, but all 6 DLC characters as they’re released.
Individually, DLC characters like Shang Tsung will cost you $5.99 (USD). Meanwhile, the Kombat Pack is priced at $39.99 (USD). This means it’s technically cheaper to buy each DLC character individually. However, the Kombat Pack offers its own perks including 7 Exclusive Skins and 7 Sets of Gear to make up for the extra $3.99 spent.
In instructions provided by WB Games Support, the process of downloading Shang Tsung after purchasing the Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 11 is as follows.
- Visit the Mortal Kombat 11 page on your PS4 Home Menu or Game Library.
- Select the game and scroll down to the “PlayStation Store” section at the bottom.
- From the “Your Add-Ons” section, you can manually download individual pieces of released content that you already own, including Shang Tsung.
