How to quit and load in Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Want to quit your game of Fire Emblem: Three Houses for another or want to Load into another game? Here's the quickest way to do it.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses gives you the exciting chance to take command of one of three houses of students at the prestigious Officer’s Academy. It’s an engaging prospect, we've no doubt that plenty of people will be running multiple games to explore the differences between each house. With three to swap between, you might think it’d be easy to drop in and out of each, loading up a different save file. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s actually a bit of a pain to swap between save files, but in this guide we’ll teach you how to quit and load in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

For some reason there’s no Load or Quit option on any of Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ menus. That means the only way to quit the game is to hit the Home button on your Switch, then Close Software by hitting X. You can then move on to whatever other game you were planning to enjoy. Yes, that really is the only way to do it, don’t ask us why. Just make sure you’ve saved before quitting.

If you want to load in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, there’s a slightly faster way to do it. As with pretty much all the Fire Emblem games, Three Houses includes a soft reset option that can be activated to send you back to the main menu. To do this, hit L, R, + and - all at the same time. This will reset the game from wherever you are, sending you back to the main menu. From there you can simply hit Continue to load into whichever game you want.

So that’s how to quit and load in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It’s a bit obtuse, but once you know the soft reset trick it’s actually pretty easy to load a separate game, so there’s no need to fret about letting one of your houses down. We have plenty more Fire Emblem: Three Houses guides here at AllGamers, including how to use Amiibo, how to reclass, how to recruit and what that pesky Weight stat does.
