Leroy Jenkins is already taken.

On Twitter, Blizzard announced that you can now reserve your favorite usernames ahead of the WoW Classic launch. While we’d love to say you can go crazy with this, there’s currently a reserve limit of three usernames in total. Set to launch on August 27, WoW Classic will bring back a version of the game beloved by many die-hard MMO fans. With so much excitement surrounding the launch of WoW Classic, it makes sense that people are already jumping to reserve names. Wondering how to register your WoW Classic username? Below, we’ve included a step-by-step guide that will help get you started!

In order to reserve WoW Classic usernames for up to three characters, you’ll first need to have a World of Warcraft subscription. Right now, WoW subscriptions are priced at $12.99 per month for 6 months, $13.99 per month for 3 months, and $14.99 per month for a single month. WoW subscriptions include access to both World of Warcraft and WoW Classic.

A Free Trial option is also available, though the Free Trial is only for World of Warcraft and does not include access to WoW Classic. If you’re serious about playing WoW Classic, we recommend paying for a WoW subscription ahead of the game's August 27 launch. Once you have your WoW subscription taken care of, you can continue on to the next steps.

  • Install WoW Classic from the Blizzard launcher.
  • Choose a WoW Classic server (Normal, PvP, RP).
  • Create a character, then name your character.
  • You can reserve up to three names per account.

One hurdle players have encountered is locating the install option for WoW Classic in the Blizzard launcher. When we were installing WoW Classic, we spotted it in the drop-down menu for World of Warcraft as seen in the image above. Other things to consider when reserving your username include your server choice, with WoW Classic servers referred to as Realms.

Server options include Normal where you’ll need to manually adjust to engage in PvP as it’s not enabled by default. If you’re into hardcore PvP, that option is available and lets you dig into as much PvP as you like outside of protected areas. If you prefer a more relaxing WoW Classic experience, you can also join a roleplaying Realm.

Now that you know how to reserve your three usernames for WoW Classic, what are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to experiencing the original World of Warcraft experience again? What Realm did you choose? Let us know down in the comments below!
