Two new Xbox controller colors announced

Grab yourself Sports Blue and Night Ops Camo... or both!

A few days ago, Sony unveiled four new DualShock colors... now it’s Microsoft’s turn. During the Inside Xbox stream at Gamescom 2019, Microsoft debuted not one, but two new Xbox Wireless controller colors. Of the two colors shown, we definitely have our eye on Sports Blue. Although, camouflage fans will undoubtedly rejoice over the new Night Ops Camo option.

Both of the new Xbox Wireless controllers feel unique with each one appealing to slightly different player bases. The Sports Blue offers a universal “blue” theme complete with blue buttons, D-pad, and thumbsticks. The back of the controller is a lighter shade of blue and as a whole, the composition is gorgeous (if you like blue).

Meanwhile, gamers can grab a new camouflage variant with the Night Ops Camo controller. Again, the finish is matte and offers a sleek blend of green, grey, and black camo. Unlike the Sports Blue, the accents really stand out here thanks to a gold D-pad offset by black thumbsticks. When looking at both side-by-side, we find ourselves leaning towards the Sports Blue, but we will give the Night Ops Camo extra points for that gold D-pad. It looks really, really nice.

Looking to add one, or both, of these controllers to your collection? The Sports Blue controller launches first on September 7, followed shortly thereafter by the Night Ops Camo which hits stores on October 8. Both controllers can be purchased for $69.99 (USD) from your standard collection of retailers, including the Microsoft Store.

Sports Blue will be available starting September 7, with the Night Ops Camo variant hitting stores October 8.

As added incentive to spend a little money upgrading your Xbox Wireless controller collection, Phil Spencer recently confirmed that they’ll be compatible with Microsoft’s newest console, Project Scarlett.
