Luigi's Mansion 3 co-op gameplay takes us to another level

Luigi's Mansion 3 co-op gameplay from the Gamescom 2019 showfloor explores another floor of the haunted hotel.

At Gamescom 2019, Nintendo's showfloor presentation of Luigi's Mansion 3 gave us a glimpse of how to play with friends when we call on our co-op companion Gooigi.

The slimier Mario brother was just one of the new features demonstrated in 20 minutes of gameplay including a new floor of the haunted hotel, which we'll be able to explore when the game launches this Halloween.

Gooigi can pop out at any time to slide through grates and other tight spaces that meatflesh Luigi can't squeeze through. You can also call on him to bring a friend into the game so you can both suck up coins together.

It seems Gooigi is a little less healthy than a real live person, as he is capped at only 25hp when he comes into the world, which only makes sense. Nothing that green can be feeling too great.

When playing in co-op, some of the larger enemy ghosts will also have two tails, so you can team up with your gooey pal to suck them up and slam them around to take care of them quicker. There are also larger obstacles that you'll need to attach two plungers to in order to pick them up and smash them.

The pair playing during the Gamescom 2019 footage also show off a rotary table saw, which Luigi can pick up with his Polgergust and use to remodel rooms by destroying furniture and barricades. It can also be used to save friends who get snatched up by psychedelic tentacles, so it's not all DIY.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is out on Nintendo Switch on October 31 this year, so will you be spending Halloween creeping around the haunted hotel?
