Similar to other modern games on the market right now, Man of Medan utilizes an auto-save feature that regularly keeps track of your progress. Rather than have to go through menus and select a save option, the game will save things for you. Whenever you see a save icon pop up at the bottom-right corner of your screen, you’ll know the game is auto-saving your progress.

As noted by the game, it’s recommended that you don’t close out of the game while it’s auto-saving as this could result in you losing your current save position. Based on our experience with the game, there are no manual save options. If you’re like us and want to know in explicit detail that your game has been saved before you exit, the best option is to trigger an auto-save.

This can be done whenever you complete a story chapter, enter a new area, complete a cutscene, and so on. Again, whenever you see the save icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen, you’ll know the game has your progress stored up until that exact point, making it safe to close out and return to at a later date.

Depending on how tech savvy you are, you can create a manual backup save file at the start of each chapter on consoles like PlayStation 4 by opening your Settings, selecting Application Saved Data Management, then USB or PS+ Cloud as storage. In doing so, you can copy back your save if you need to restart a chapter without having to restart the game from scratch. The choice is up to you, though.

For most players, the auto-save feature should be sufficient enough to keep track of your progress as you work through Man of Medan. While it’d be nice to have in-game manual saves, the auto-safe feature works well enough given the game’s shorter duration.
