PUBG Corp would like to launch on every platform

"If we have the opportunity."

It's been a while since we've heard anything concrete about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds coming to PS4, and the game is decidedly Xbox-exclusive on console for now, but if PUBG Corp gets its way, we may see it cross to other formats in the future.

"As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now. If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform," CEO Chang Han Kim told InvenGlobal.

"Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality. However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took six months more to launch even when it was already completed. We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first."

PUBG launched on Steam Early Access for PC last March and hit 1.0 just before Christmas, having sold more than 26 million copies to that date. The Xbox One Game Preview release arrived in early December, and while it lags behind the PC version in development terms and has tough controls to master as well as performance issues, it has already sold over 2m copies there as well.

Obviously the addressable market would be even greater should the game jump over to PS4 - with its global installed base of over 70m - but it sounds like it might be a while before that happens.
