Sony has announced that it sold more than 5.9 million units during the 2017 holiday season, which presumably makes it the most successful console during that period.
Those hefty sales figures also mean the console has now sold through more than 73.6m units globally, putting it well ahead of Xbox One and the more youthful Nintendo Switch.
Sony also said that it has sold more than 55.9m PS4 games in the same period across retail and digital sales, which means PS4 owners have bought a staggering 645m games since the console was released at the back end of 2013.
Plenty of those players are engaging with the console's online features, too, with the PlayStation Plus subscriber total now at 31.5m.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our community and our partners for helping us achieve such phenomenal milestones," said John Kodera, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
"We promise our unwavering commitment to bring more amazing experiences to our fans, including exclusive games and innovative network services, as PS4 continues to flourish as the best place to play."
Elsewhere in the console war, such as it is, Nintendo recently celebrated selling 4.8m Nintendo Switches in North America during its first 10 months on the market.
There's no word on how many Xbox One (or Xbox One X) units were shipped in either period, because Microsoft stopped releasing console sales figures a few years ago when it became clear PS4 was roaring ahead.
