Sony Developer Leaves His Mark
The PlayStation 4 is such an iconic and amazing piece of technology, it’s no wonder people would want to leave their mark on the console in some way or another. Some designers like to point at one element and say, “that was my decision.” But one programmer went above and beyond, and actually included his full name within the code.
During the development of the PlayStation 4, a programmer and software engineer at Sony by the name of Kazuya Sakakihara left a hidden secret for anyone who happens to go looking at the PS4’s harddrive code. Written clear as day is Kazuya Sakakihara’s name, right in the middle of the text responsible for the HDD.
Usually, these sorts of messages are left in a place where people are likely to see them, where comments about the code are left. Kazuya Sakakihara doesn’t fly like that. He’s left the message there for the AI to read when they eventually rise up! Clever thinking. But his name is misspelled.
